  • An Indian city in the lap of Himachal Pradesh is not only the home to the Indians but to the Tibetans as well. This prominent city is called Dharamshala and as the name indicates, it genuinely serves as a holy shelter to Tibetan refugees. Famous to be the Home to the 14th Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government in exile, it is a popular tourist destination in India based at a height of more than 4000 feet amidst lush cedar forests.

  • Art and Culture in Dharamshala

    Being the residence to the Dalai Lama, it is resided by many Tibetan refugees due to whom the city of Dharamshala is shrouded in the Buddhist culture. Many monasteries are located here serving as a great attraction for the tourists. Monuments like Kangra Museum and Art Gallery interpret the culture and history of Dharamshala. Folk dances and music can be enjoyed during Hindu Lohri Festival. Spring Festival is also celebrated here. ‘Lhamo’ being the folk opera from Tibet is also a part of Dharamshala now. It is also famous for Himachal Devi Darshan. Jwalamukhi Devi Temple is one of the four temples in Himachal which draws large amount of devotees every year.

    Dharamshala is a municipal corporation of Kangra District. It houses many tourist spots.

    Dharamshala Cricket Stadium: It is one of the world’s highest cricket stadiums also known as HPCA Stadium. One can feel the cool breeze at such height which feels very enchanting.

    St. John in the wilderness Church: The famous church dedicated to John the Baptist is on the way to Mcleodgnaj. It has a striking architecture which lures everyone.

    War Memorial: This is a beautiful spot amidst pine forests and a stunning colonial college.

    Gyuto Monastery: This is the most beautiful monastery in Dharamshala wrapped in the tranquil nature. It serves as a perfect place for meditation.

    Triund: Triund is the best retreat for people looking for a relaxing day out. 9 km trek to Triund takes you the panoramic view of Moon Peak-Indera Pass at more than 9000 feet high altitude.
