  • Located approximately at a distance of 60 kms from Bangalore, in Karnataka, Nandi Hills offers beautiful and breathe taking picturesque views with great climatic conditions. Located at a height of 4851 feet above sea level and known as ‘The Hills of Happiness’ in ancient times, is a popular tourist destination and picnic spot during weekends.

    Nandi Hills is also called as Nandidurga, the reason behind this name is the fort built here by the emperor Tipu Sultan. It is said that the name Nandi Hills was given, as the hill resembles the structure of a sleeping bull (Nandi).

  • The art and culture of a place is the reflection of the people and the region, their tradition, beliefs and lifestyle. There are many mythological stories regarding the origin and history of Nandi Hills. One of the stories believes that the hills got its name from the ancient 1300 years old Dravidian temple named Nandi temple in this hilly region along with an ancient Lord Shiva and Parvati temple. Beautiful stone carvings of this temple are a source of tourist attraction and depicts rich ancient cultural art and architecture. Due to its proximity from Bangalore, Nandi Hills have been a favourite destination of the State Tourism Department for art and cultural shows, theatre festivals and heritage walks.

  • Tipu’s Drop – during Tipu Sultan’s regime, criminals were pushed to death from this point as punishment.

    Tipu’s Summer Residence – as the name depicts used to be Tipu’s rest house during the summer.

    Nandi Temple – with intricate metal works and beautifully carved stone pillars, is one of the oldest temples in Karnataka.

    Amruth Sarovar – formed by natural springs, the sparkling waters of the lake are a must watch after nightfall.

    Nehru Nilaya – now a guest house, managed by the horticulture department of India, is the place where Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru himself used to stay during his visits.

  • Cycling/Biking – at this altitude, given the terrain and landscape, it is the most enjoyable track for cycling enthusiasts. It provides bikers/cyclists with very good hill trainings from Bangalore and nearby cities.

    Paragliding – one of the most unique palaces in Karnataka, Nandi Hills offers paragliding activities for its visitors. If you are having height phobeia then definitely this activity is not for you.

    Trekking – is a great trekking destination, surrounded by picturesque landscapes and abundant beauty. Open for all, unlimited fun & entertainment with family or friends completely close to nature.

    Bird Watching and Bird Photography - the hills homes many of birds and plant species, making it a popular bird watching destination and paradise for bird life photographers. The state horticulture department maintains a garden here for its tourists.
