Established in 1674 AD by Maharaja Nawal Singh (Songara Rajput) at the village site of Rohili, Nawalgarh holds a rich history predating the abolition of Jagirs in Rajasthan. This town is the ancestral home of numerous prominent business families from the Marwari community. Nawalgarh was once a tazimi thikana of Jagmal Ji Ka Songara, surrounded by imposing Parkota (walls) featuring four Pols (gates) in distinct directions – Agoona Darwaja, Bawadi Darwaja (north, near the well), Mandi Darwaja (near the market), and Nansa Darwaja, each adorned with sturdy iron doors.
